We stayed at this hotel during the Canton fair, which is a very busy time in Guangzhou and one in which hotel prices rise dramatically. We chose the IT because it was new, reasonably prices and close to the new (Panzhu) fair complex. All in all I would not stay here again and can not recommend it. The staff is completely incompetent fumbling through everything from check-in to changing money to breakfast to check out. They simply do not know what they are doing and make ones stay very difficult. After a while you really start to think they are purposely being rude as there is no other explanation to such ridiculous behavior. At one point they even accused us of having counterfeit Chinese money (ignoring the fact that it was a 100 RMB bill and the only local currency we had was exchanged at hotels). Beyond the service, the rooms are bellow average at best. I have been to Guangzhou several times and really hoped that a new hotel would resolve many of the problems often found in China. This was not the case. The rooms are very small, the hot water comes and goes, the layout of the room is completely inefficient and, if you’re really unlucky, you can hear the large ventilators, which I assume run the air conditioning, from your room. There are simply too many hotels in Guangzhou these days to bother with the IT World Hotel.

I d say i agree fully with the statements of golden_planet. Its not aa pleasure to be here. And the breakfast for instance is really not suited for westerners. The baked beans are not done, the orange juice is just syrup. I could continue. Its not worth the money. Its close to convention center though, but also far away from centre of city. Rmb 40 gets you there though. No gym here. Quite loud, rooms are not sound proof. Staff doesnt speak english, makes it difficult to even order roomservice.

We stayed in this hotel On October 31 and November 1, 2007. We arrived in the hotel 12:30 in the morning from Manila. The staffs were very polite and the assistant manager who speaks good english offered to personally carry our luggages to our room. Except for the room which is not sound proof, the rest of the services are generally excellent.
